In August 1999, the G&O Valdosta turn just
got on the NS in Adel. Once in Valdosta, the plan is to drop off the cars
and run around the train to pick the load for Albany.
In May 1998, it just finished switching the rock
plant in Meigs, and will soon be going by the depot at Ochlocknee.
The Camilla turn is running in June 2000 on
the old GAS&C in Camilla heading toward the junction with the old ACL
Albany-Thomasville line.
Shame a picture cannot talk.
You would hear 3832 screaming as it pulls the transfer job up to the yard
from the bridge over the Flint river. You would also hear the engineer
call for a pusher from the ready track, just in case she stalls. Fortunately,
3832 wins the battle that day, but barely!!!! After the torture, the engine
is left to cool down on the ready track. See
picture in G&O roster.
After a long weekend at the
Albany train show operating a time saver layout, I get rewarded Sunday
evening. CSX with some nice power came down from Oglethorpe, Ga on the
NS line to Albany to pick the empty Radium Springs coal train from the
old ACL yard.
